Drag
Run your finger across letter bubbles that touch each other. Diagonals count, so a word can zigzag through the stack.
Drag. Spell. Drop.
Trace a word across touching letter bubbles, watch the letters fall into place and the stack settle again. No clock, no score, no lives — every board can be finished.
iPhone, portrait, iOS 16 or later. Free to download, with ads and optional in-app purchases. The App Store button starts working when the app is approved.

How it plays
Run your finger across letter bubbles that touch each other. Diagonals count, so a word can zigzag through the stack.
Every board comes with its words listed at the top. Spell one of them and it locks into its slot.
The letters you used drop away and everything above falls into the gap, leaving a new stack to read.
Every board is always solvable. Dis, the purple ink creature who hosts the game, lays out the words for you.
No timer. No rush.
There is no clock counting down, no score to chase and no lives to run out of. Stars are the only measure in Inkwell: clear a board without help and you get three.
Finish a board on your own for the full three stars. Use a hint and you still finish — the board never locks you out.
New players start with 3 hints and earn more from today's goals, cleared boards, events, the chests every ten levels and bonus words. A rewarded ad gives 2.
The words are always there to be found, so a board you set down is a board you can come back and finish.

Three ways to play
A new board every day at midnight, getting harder through the week, plus a harder Master board. A streak counts the days, and a streak freeze can save it.
400 levels on a map through eight worlds: Forest edge, Meadow, Beach, Open sea, Tropical island, Desert, Mountain and Summit.
Midweek Dash, Weekend Sprint, Word Marathon and Star Rush come round on their own schedule, each a short run of boards with its own shape.

A little every day
Today's board gets harder as the week goes on, and a Master board sits alongside it for anyone who wants more.
A streak counts the days you play, and a streak freeze can save it when a day gets away from you.
Your result can be shared as a picture that gives nothing away about the board.
Dare the Master board
When today's board is behind you, the Master board is waiting with a bigger stack of letters. Glöd the fox brings it, and clearing it is how you meet him.

Adventure
Follow the map from the forest edge all the way to the summit, one board at a time, with a chest every ten levels along the way.

Nine languages
Each language has its own dictionary and its own daily boards — not a translation of somebody else's puzzle. Tap a word you found to look it up on Wiktionary, which opens in your browser.
Optional leaderboards for today's stars, your longest streak and your total stars, plus friends.
No sign-up, and the game never asks for a name, email address or phone number. iCloud syncs progress between your own devices.

Inkwell Plus and hints
An optional subscription, monthly or yearly. In the app it is described as:
Prices differ by country and are shown in the App Store before you confirm.
Hint packs of 5, 20 and 60 are one-time purchases, and they are used up as you spend them. Hints also come from today's goals, cleared boards, events, chests every ten levels and bonus words — or from a rewarded ad, which gives 2.
Players without Plus see ads. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent form appears before the first ad and Apple's tracking prompt follows it; declining means ads are not personalised. Plus players see no ads at all, and no ad is even requested.
